The SAT and OCD

by Matt B. on December 5, 2014

I teach SAT to pay the bills. Over the past few months, I’ve learned a lot about how the test works and what it expects of students. In particular, it represents the English language as a set of universal and inviolable rules. This is how grammar Nazis think of language, and it’s a great metaphor for OCD. (Note: I ramble a bit in this episode. If you only want to hear the most OCD-relevant bits, skip ahead to 9:20.)
